Bunkers vs. Safe Rooms: Choosing the Right Level of Protection

Clients often arrive assuming a full bunker is the only serious option. In practice, the right solution depends entirely on threat modeling — proximity to conflict zones, political exposure, and the realistic duration of any incident.

When a Safe Room Is Enough

For most residential clients, a correctly engineered safe room rated to NIJ Level IV provides sufficient protection against forced entry and ballistic threats for the duration needed until response arrives.

When a Bunker Is Warranted

For clients in high-risk regions or with extended threat exposure, a fully provisioned bunker with independent life support becomes the appropriate classification.
